New London Theatre built 1971-1972 by Paul Tvrtkovic, Sean Kenny and Michael Percival. Opened 2 Jan 1973 with Peter Ustinov's play The Unknown Soldier and His Wife. Used as a theatre and as a convention centre. Between 11 May 1981 and 11 May 2002, location of 8949 performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats, the longest playing musical in British history. 1991 purchased by Andrew Lloyd Webber. On 1 May 2018 renamed Gillian Lynne Theatre in honour of the British dancer and coreographer, Gillian Lynne (1926-2018). 1106 seats. (English)
